Residential air conditioners are fast becoming coarse household items providing cool breeze during the hot summer months. In the United States of America alone, there are about 60 million home air conditioners that use fluorocarbons. Using these, we can have controlled temperature and humidity at our place. There are three types of residential air conditioners. They are the window room, ductless split and the ducted central residential air conditioner systems.

Most air conditioners uses Hydrochloroflurocarbon (Hcfc) which is a major component of the refrigerators and has severe ensue on the ozone layer hole becoming bigger. So the industry are trying to move towards another component i.e. Hydroflurocarbon 410A which is very power sufficient and reduces the emission of carbon dioxide gas.

The Life Cycle climate execution (Lccp) index is the measure of the issue of Carbon dioxide in Kilograms which results in warming. The division of Lccp due to the warming ensue of the air conditioner's refrigerant emission is just less than 5%.

The use of hydrocarbon in the residential air conditioning theory is lesser and the arrangements must be made to reduce the risk due to fire which requires further investment.

The international standards for air conditioners are that it should have refrigerant in air tight containers so that the issue of carbon dioxide to the climate is reduced to a great extent. The refrigerant should be able to be recovered, recycled and reclaimed and should not become an atmospheric pollutant.

There should be expertly trained servicemen who know well about the working of the residential air conditioner and can deal with any malfunctioning. They should be in accordance with the air conditioner standards and should have permissible maintenance facilities.

The cost of a residential air conditioner would be in the range of 0 to 000 and it depends on the dissimilar makes and models. It also depends on its seasonal power efficiency ratio (Seer) which is the ratio of the total cooling production of the air conditioner when it is in general usage duration and the total power input in the same time.

The Air Conditioner - Central Air Or Window Air Conditioner

The Air Conditioner - Central Air Or Window Air Conditioner

Air Conditioning is something that many citizen look at installing every year. There are many options when it comes time to make that decision. To help make that decision more clear, I will explore some of the positives and negatives of the two major options. Ductless split type units are also becoming more of an option. I will do other report on that option. To contain that in this report would just be more confusing. So for now we will just look at window air conditioners and central air conditioning.

Central air conditioning is the best way to go if you already have a central hot air heating principles already installed in your house or building. The advantage that you have is that you already have the air handler or blower part already installed. The ductwork for the distribution of the air is also all ready in place. The ductwork may need some modification to make it work well for air conditioning, but the major part of it should be adequate.

To use the existing furnace and ductwork a coil will need to be installed at the furnace. An outdoor condenser unit will be installed exterior and copper tubing will be used to associate the coil to the outdoor unit. Some electrical wiring will need to be done to power the outdoor unit. Low voltage wiring will be needed to hook the thermostat, the furnace, and the outdoor unit together so that they can talk to each other. Basically the thermostat will just tell the furnace to run the blower on high speed and the outdoor condenser to start up.

If there is no central hot air heating, then the premise of central air conditioning can be much more difficult. Many homes that do not have hot air heat also do not have the room to setup ductwork. This would eliminate this possibility. If you are in this kind you should get a professional to look at your situation to see if central air conditioning can be done. If it is the room available is to sufficient to do a good job and get large sufficient ductwork installed, then do not force the issue and go other option. Ductless split type air conditioning may be your best option.

A window air conditioner in my idea is a last resort for air conditioning your house or building. There are many down sides to window air conditioning units. There are two good things that window air conditioners have going for them. They are very cheap when it comes to cost per Btu of cooling. They also setup very fast and easily. That is where the good part of them ends. Window air conditioners are protection risks. If a thief wants to get into your house, the thin sheet metal box that holds the unit in the window can literally be pulled apart to get in straight through the window. I have seen many units that are not even screwed fast. If the window air conditioner is just there, balancing in the window frame, it becomes very tantalizing for a unexpected guest. The window air conditioner is also very inefficient. These units use more power per Btu of cooling than any other type of air conditioner. If you are a light sleeper, than chances are you will not want one of these window shakers. Window air conditioners are one of the loudest forms of air conditioning.

The blower for these units is very loud when running. Then add the noise of the compressor and you have sufficient decibels to keep many citizen wide awake all night long. If you choose to use a window air conditioner, than you should also look for a place that it can be secured and located in a room that you will not be sleeping in.

As you can tell by now, I am not a big fan of window air conditioners. They do have a place for some people. However, you do need to be aware of the problems that you may encounter with them. The low introductory cost can be offset by the fact that they typically do not last as long as a central air conditioner.

Central air conditioning will last much longer, be quieter while operation, be more efficient, be more secure, but the introductory cost will be higher. How much depends on each situation. When considering your options for air conditioning premise you need to get prices for all and then decree what type of unit will work the best for you. In other report I will talk about when to consider using a ductless split type air conditioning unit. They are also other possibility to consider.

Ductless Split Air Conditioner tell

Ductless Split Air Conditioner tell

Ductless split air conditioning units are the very best thing for some situations. Of policy they can be installed in the place of most any central air unit. They also are a very good alternative to window air conditioning units. I will survey the use of these units more intimately and look at how they can be used effectively.

One of the many problems encountered by the expert is when they are asked to setup central air in an older home that was never designed with air conditioning as even a possibility. The walls may be very thick stone. Often they have very small or no insulation. The floor structures may be rough cut lumber. The joists spacing may be random.

Walls and ceilings are plaster and lathe. Basically all is stacked against any type of ducted central air conditioning. Many log style homes also are not very easy to get any kind of ducted central air installed. The open ceilings and the bare log wall compose does not allow for any kind of ducting. I'm sure there are other situations. These are the ones that I have come across most frequently.

If you have a home or construction that falls into one of these categories you may want to investigate installing a ductless air conditioner. This type of air conditioner can be installed in roughly any home or building. The small indoor unit can be attached to the wall with a few screws. Most of the units only want that a three inch hole be bored straight through the exterior wall. In new installations the units can be placed on inside walls with some fore understanding and planning. For facility in older homes or homes that are already built you will want to plan the units to be on the exterior walls.

The outdoor condenser units can be placed up to one hundred feet away from the indoor units. One outdoor unit can be used for many indoor units. Up to four indoor units can be attached to the same outdoor condenser. Some very advanced electronics will control the operation of the condenser and compressor to provide the refrigerant to the indoor air handler units that are running at the time. With variable speed technology the compressor and the condenser fan will only run as fast as needed. This technology has come to be very productive in the last few years. You do not have to give up any efficiency with these ductless split units.

Another advantage to these mini split air conditioners is that they can be controlled to run only in the rooms that you easily need air conditioning in. If you are not going to be in a room you can shut down the unit. The units also have timers that can be set to turn the air conditioning on or off at preset times. If you are not going to be home all day the air conditioning can be setback or turned off.

The timer will turn on the air conditioning so that you return to a cool house. Central air conditioning is very hard to zone effectively. Also with large central air conditioning systems the outdoor compressor will be running at full capacity even though only a few rooms may be calling for cooling. There are some central air conditioning systems that are do some staging and variable speed technology. These are not as productive or as productive as the ductless split technology.

Ductless split heat pumps are other great idea to look at. For a few dollars more you can also very easily have heat from your air conditioning mini split. Then especially in the mild spring and fall weather you can have some very productive heat with out beginning up that big monster of a furnace or boiler in the basement. In southern climates the heat pump version of the ductless split theory may provide enough heat year around.

Ductless split air conditioning is surely something that can solve many problems for some homeowners. Add to that the many advantages of these units and you will find that they are worth every penny that you will spend into them. As with any task like this make sure that you screen your contractor. These units are not for do it yourself people. There are many things that need to be done correctly for these units to work properly and efficiently. A refrigeration license is also required to setup these air conditioners.

By doing a small investigate and hiring the right someone you will enjoy many years of problem free aid from your new ductless mini split system.

Most problems that people face with air conditioners can be solved by easy maintenance and cleaning. A regular cleaning of the air conditioner grille and filter helps to increase its longevity and make it more sufficient at cooling. Sometimes particle aggregation inside the air filter chokes the ducts and makes the air conditioner ineffective. This can be solved by a easy cleaning of the air filter.

The common problems with air conditioners are faulty cooling, range of water pools below the air conditioner, rattling sounds when the unit is shutting down, dysfunctional climatic characteristic control, etc. Some of these problems can be repaired by the owners themselves without calling for technical help. The air conditioner by hand carries solutions to minor problems which can be absolutely implemented.

Before attempting Air Conditioner Repairs, it is most leading to turn the power off. Removing the grille is an easy task, but care should be taken if the fan is attached to the grille as in some central cooling systems. Also, no wires should come loose while removing the grille and disconnecting the fan. If there are any wires connecting the fan to the main board, their sequence should be remembered so that they can be reconnected later.

Sometimes the air conditioner may not turn on at all due to a tripped or a broken fuse. The fuse is easy sufficient to be replaced by anyone. Instructions to replace fuses are mentioned in the manual. Hence, before calling a technician, it is advisable to check if there is a fuse problem.

Another common question is the accumulation of water under the front part of the air conditioner. This may be due to leakage of one of the ducts. easy change solves the question and instructions are mentioned in the manual.

Problems with thermostats are trickier to solve. Thermostat problems cause the air conditioner to cool the room unexpectedly. Even the heat pump may cause unexpected climatic characteristic swings if it is broken down. Thermostats and heat pumps should only be repaired by skilled technicians from the companies themselves.

Air Conditioner fix is not a very difficult task, but people who are not obvious with electrical appliances may touch the company to send their technicians. Technicians from the same company should be favorite over other repairmen.

The air conditioner from the American proper company is very dependable and comfortable to the customers. There are some advantages in buying an American proper air conditioner. One of the major advantages is the fact that it lets the buyer stay cool and it also helps in recovery a lot of money with his productive usage of current.

There are some American proper models ready on the market. These models vary with respect to the Seer value. Seer is nothing but the Seasonal vigor Efficiency Ratio. It is the ratio or the rating that is used to part the efficiency of cooling factor of a specific heat pump or an air conditioner.

If the seasonal vigor efficiency ratio is higher then the efficiency of the conditioner is also higher and vice versa. So it is always better to buy an air conditioner with a higher Seer value.

The air conditioner ranges in the efficiency factor from the Seer value of 13 to the Seer value of more than 18. This Seer value for American brand is among the best that is ready in the market. The American proper air conditioner has the top rating for efficiency in the air conditioner industry.

Because of this factor a lot of customers regularly buy the American standard. There are some choices to select from. One of the best models is the allegiance American proper air conditioners. If you want the best, I propose getting the Allergiance 18 which has maximum efficiency and cooling.

There are so many choices are ease that is ready to the buyer to select from. There are some technological factors also that come in to observation while buying the air conditioning unit. The American proper air conditioner gives you the ease of cooling that the buyer always looks for in his home.

It is thus a very productive air conditioner unit with the newest technologies.

portable Air Conditioner - No Vent - No Way

A recent visitor to my website asked if there was such a thing as a conveyable air conditioner with no vent. I wrote back that I had never heard of one, but would check it out just in case some new progress in conveyable air conditioning had slipped by me.

portable Air Conditioner - No Vent - No Way

What I found was the Haier commercial Cool 14,000 Btu conveyable Air Conditioner. In the goods report it states there's no need to install a vent, but then goes on to say a "window exhaust kit" is included with the purchase.

I think what they're trying to do is persuade you and me that the term "vent" should be applied to permanent installations only like those for clothes dryers, and temporary installations, such as those used for conveyable air conditioners, aren't indeed vents at all - they're "window exhaust kits."

Call it what you will, one way or another the hot air generated by the compressor needs to be exhausted from the room. So I guess if you buy a Haier you'll be "window kitting" the hot air out the window instead of having to vent it like everybody else.

The fact of the matter is there is no such thing as a conveyable air conditioner with no vent.

So if you're finding for a conveyable cooling unit that doesn't want venting, (and once again the term "portable" is subject to interpretation) you have three choices: A fan, a small window air conditioner, or a conveyable swamp cooler - also known as a conveyable vaporing cooler.

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

There are some very leading things that you should do to extend the life of your air conditioner and keep it working at peak efficiency at all times. One of the most leading things that you can do is turn your air conditioner or furnace filter every three to six months.

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

Every home is separate and there are many factors that supervene how long you should wait in the middle of filter changes. Wait too long and the efficiency of the tool will deteriorate and operating costs go up. turn your filter too often and it's like throwing money away. considering the cost of some filters that could add up to a lot of money over time.

It is leading to keep in mind that the more efficient your air conditioner filter is the more often it will have to be cleaned or replaced. For most habitancy pleated filters will do an enough job. These filters are ten to sixty percent efficient and some manufacturers claim even higher efficiencies.

Pleated filters should be changed every three to six months. If you live in an area with lots of dust then you should probably turn your filter about every three months.

If you need more efficient air filtration you may want an electrostatic, electronic or even a Hepa filter. The more efficient the filter is the more often it will have to be cleaned or replaced.

Electrostatic filters probably offer the best mixture of value and efficiency. You will pay in the middle of two to six times what a good capability disposable filter would cost but you just wash them with water when they become dirty and reuse them.

Electronic filters will never become dirty enough to supervene airflow. They just become inefficient and there capability to take off dust from the air deteriorates as they become dirty. To clean these filters you have to take off the electronic cells and soak them in some like Hvac cleaner and then rinse them and let them dry.

Hepa filters are the most efficient filters available and become plugged very quickly. They need to be checked monthly and often cause too much restriction to airflow to be used at all. An air conditioner undertaker of a package deal will be able to tell you if it is worth trying one of these in your system.

If you are using cheaper panel filters from your local hardware store and getting a pack of four for five or ten dollars, you are not doing yourself, your house or your air conditioning tool any favours. When it comes to rating filters, these are at the bottom of the list.

These filters do such a poor job you could leave one in your air conditioner for a year and it would not fetch enough dust to need changing. The unfortunate thing is the evaporator coil of your air conditioner would need to be cleaned every year to take off the dirt that should have been stopped by the filter.

Air Conditioner Cages - safe Your Air Conditioner From Theft

Can you imagine waking up to extreme heat and wondering what is going on with your air conditioner. You call the air conditioning population to come out and see why your air conditioner is no longer working. And they have to fill in you that your air conditioner has been vandalized, and that the copper and steel parts within the unit have been stolen. There is no longer any hope for the unit. You commonly have to replace the whole air conditioning unit. On the other hand if you had protected yourself with some Kind of air health security you would not have had this problem.

Air Conditioner Cages - safe Your Air Conditioner From Theft

In the United States there is a new tendency in robbery and theft. Because air conditioners have large amounts of steel and copper, and because there is a large scrap value for these materials, they have come to be an easy target for thieves. Many thieves are stealing air conditioner units and selling them for their scrap value. What is the explication to this problem? Many air conditioning associates are using Ac cages, air conditioner cages to safe their customer's air conditioner.

Ac cages, or air conditioner security was not something we indeed needed to think about a few years ago, but today this type of vandalism can cost thousands of dollars in mend nowadays. The best thing you can do is get some kind of ac security and that can whether be in the form of ac cages or an ac alarm. The advantage of ac cages is that they are not as costly as ac alarms, and air conditioner cages are much easier to install.

So many every day citizens have been harmed by this type of vandalism, and it has affected everyone, residential, and enterprise units alike, even rooftop air conditioning units have been stolen. Senior citizens, population on fixed incomes, renters, homeowners and even builders have been affected by these vandals. No ones air conditioner is safe unless they have an ac cage installed.

Cost of Ac Cages

Air conditioner cages run a join of hundred dollars, which may seem like an unnecessary expense, but when you are faced with having to replace your whole air conditioning unit because someone has decided to steal the copper core out of it, you will soon realize that the hundred or two you have to spend on an ac cage is well worth the investment.

What are Ac Cages Made of?

Air conditioning cages are commonly made of some kind of steel or iron work. Some cages are even ornamental. They are specially made to allow breathing room for your air conditioner. Ac cages are not very costly and yet they give you the security of knowing that your Ac unit will never be vandalized.

How To Stop Your Air Conditioner From frosty Up

How To Stop Your Air Conditioner From frosty Up

My air conditioner is frosty up approximately daily. I've tried resetting the climatic characteristic and nothing seems to work. What would you recommend I to to stop my air conditioner from freezing?

Solution:

There are some factors that could be the cause. The four main reasons for air conditioner freeze ups:

Refrigerant charge

Outdoor temperature

Insufficient air flow

Defective blower

You may have a low refrigerant charge which can cause the air conditioner to freeze up. The law needs to be charged correctly to enable it to work properly. You may have a leak in the refrigerant lines.

If the lines have been vibrating or rubbing other parts or objects the conflict could cause a leak. In increasing if there are loose fittings or weak solder joints it could be leaking from those areas. If you've considered the refrigerant lines are not leaking than it may just need to be recharged. If you don't know how to recharge it you may need to feel a service technician.

In temperatures under 60 degrees outdoor air conditioning units tend not to function as well. When the climatic characteristic drops the law begins to not function properly and freeze ups can occur. The simplest method is to not use your unit when the climatic characteristic cools down and open your windows or doors. If that's not a option you will probably need to have a ambient climatic characteristic operate installed in your system.

The evaporator coils will come to be dirty over time. A dirty filter restricts the air flow development it lose air flow and ultimately it becomes so slow that it freezes up, or at best, not cooling as well as it should. This results in dirty coils that will need to be cleaned. Depending on your air conditioner you may have to take off the coils to clean them. You should replace the Ac filter yearly. For central air conditioning units an additional one qoute that occurs is when you have duct work that is undersized causing the unit to freeze up. If you feel that may be the qoute you'll need to consult a professional. Try replacing the filter first and it may do the trick.
Air conditioner freeze ups can occur when the blower is not running at the required speed and may need to be replaced.

These are the main reasons why air conditioners freeze up. If you're lucky it may just be a dirty filter which you should be able to replace yourself.

Make Today Air Conditioner Appreciation Day!

Make Today Air Conditioner Appreciation Day!

I know what you are thinking: but, there is no such thing as Air Conditioner Appreciation Day! There could be, though. All you have to do is take a diminutive time to make sure your air conditioner is running properly. Why is this so important? Air conditioners do more than cool and dehumidify air. They also filter out the pollen in the air. Dust mites and mold hate the cool dry air so air conditioners dissuade them as well. They also discourage cockroaches because those diminutive critters hate the airflow an air conditioner provides. A poorly maintained air conditioner can spread airborne bacteria and allergens. It also can produce enough continued noise to cause hearing damage. It is also potentially hard on your wallet because it can consume more energy.

Now that we have covered the importance of air conditioning maintenance are you wondering where to start? Look no further than you air conditioner filter. The filter(s) on your air conditioner need to be replaced and/or cleaned regularly. Dirty filters sell out the efficiency of an air conditioner substantially because the dirt blocks the normal air flow. When the airflow is blocked, the air that bypasses the filter can carry dirt directly into the evaporator coil and impair heat tantalizing capacity of the coil. Remember how poorly maintained air conditioners consume more energy? Well, a clean filter lowers the consumption of vigor by 5-15%.

You may now be wondering where the filter is placed on your unit. If you have central air conditioning, the filter is placed somewhere along the distance of the return duct or in the air conditioner itself. If you have a room air conditioner, the filter is mounted in the grill that faces into the room. Some filters are reusable and need to be cleaned. Others are disposable and need to be replaced. While the cooling season you should clean or replace the filter(s) every month or two. If the air conditioner is in constant use, is branch to dusty conditions, or you have fur-bearing pets in the house, your ideas may need more frequent attention.

Another place to check on your motor is the coil. The coil and condenser coil collect dirt over the months and the years. One way to slow down the range of dirt on the coils is to make sure the filter is clean. If the coil is insulated by dirt, the ability to dispell heat is reduced. It is leading to check and clean the coil every year. You might also need to check the face coil (or condenser coil). You should check to see if dirt is collecting on its fins. Make sure you minimize the estimate of dirt and debris near the condenser unit and allow for enough air flow colse to the condenser as well. You should also make sure that foliage is trimmed at least two feet back from the coil.

To faultless your Air Conditioner Appreciation Day rituals, you should check the coil fins, condensate drains and window seals on your unit. Coil fins are easily bent and can block air flow straight through the unit. There is a tool that will comb the fins back into their traditional position called a fin comb. For the condensate drains, you should pass a stiff wire straight through the drain channels occasionally. This is leading because if the channels are clogged the unit is prevented from reducing humidity. This excess moisture in the air can cause discoloration of walls or carpet. If you have a room air conditioner, you should check the seal between the air conditioner and the window frame. The seal should make palpate with the metal case of the unit. The seal can be damaged by moisture which allows cool air to escape from your home.

Checking the filter, coil, coil fins, condensate drain and window seals on your air conditioner should faultless your observance of Air Conditioner Appreciation Day. What is that you say? You are upset that it is over so soon? Never fear. I doubt your air conditioner will mind if you make every day Air Conditioner Appreciation Day!

All About Air Conditioner Coils

Since the majority of your vigor allocation is spent heating and cooling your home for the most efficient execution one should all the time make sure your air conditioner coils are clean. One of the major problems and hindrances to this is that the heater coil and air conditioner coils are near each other. By maintaining your heating and cooling systems you can save money and enjoy comfort year-round. Doing this in conjunction with choosing an air conditioner with a high vigor Efficiency Rating (Eer) will enable you to cut your cooling costs down significantly. You should also right on check your filter at the beginning of the cooling season.

Briefly, and in one illustrative embodiment, a cooling unit is activated to satisfy the sensible cooling demands of the inside space, and if after the sensible cooling demands have been satisfied, and it is determined that the latent cooling demands have not yet been met, both a cooling unit and a heating unit are activated to help supply added latent cooling to the inside space.

Air Conditioner

When an air conditioner is operating at steady state, the air conditioner coils are sufficiently cool to cause water condensation, thus removing water from the air and reducing the humidity of the air and the inside space.

All About Air Conditioner Coils

As is accepted in many Hvac systems, the cooling unit and the heating unit are sized to cool and heat the inside space, respectively, under predicted worst case conditions, and operate in whether a relatively constant "on" state or an "off" state, as desired.

When so provided, the cooling unit and the heating unit may not be actually matched in production capacity, and thus when both are activated, the sensible cooling/heating of the inside space may be effected at least to some degree.

In an Hvac theory having a heating unit sized to heat an inside space under an predicted heating load and a cooling unit sized to cool the inside space under an predicted cooling load, the correction comprising: a controller adapted to settle whether the space is above a predetermined humidity threshold; and if so, operating both the heating unit and the cooling unit.

Air Conditioner Seer Ratings

To understand the best Seer ratings let's first discuss what Seer is. Seasonal power Efficiency Ratio (Seer) is the portion of power efficiency of an air conditioning system. Seer ratings allow consumers to compare discrete cooling systems and the effectiveness to operating costs.

Basically new Ac units are going to have a higher Seer rating than those that are older.  This is just base sense but it does not always mean you need to spend a fortune on a new Ac unit. There are many factors that will come into play and taking a look at all of them will help deduct the best possible resolution to this venture.

Air Conditioner

Before you look into the Ac unit itself you will need to conclude a few things about the environment you are trying to cool such as; insulation, layout, air leakage, the health of the current piping and duct ideas already in place to filter the conditioned air, and the current operating cost of the Ac unit already working in the environment you are wanting to cool.

Air Conditioner Seer Ratings

In the end the higher the Seer rating the more effective your cooling ideas is going to be.  Aside from seeing at the physical aspect of the area you are cooling you will need to deduct positive percentages to frame out what you are going to need to have a sufficient system.

This is a mathematical equation that uses the blend of comparing the Seer rating that will supply a positive number of Btus to the cooling per WattHour (Wh) of operation. The Seer rating itself will conclude the number of Btus for example a Seer rating of 10 will produce 10 Btus of cooling per Wh.

This is what makes a higher Seer rating more efficient. Wh measures whether electrical power produced or consumed and this is considered by the number of power used when the Ac unit runs for an hour. To break this down a miniature great if you are using a 100 watt light bulb for an hour you are using 100 Wh of energy.

There are many factors in determining the Seer rating and this is why we have heating and cooling professionals to help you break all this down and frame out what is going to be the best unit to regain and why.
